Support your local trans people!

I am in the process of compiling a list of local trans-owned businesses, trans service providers, and trans artists. My hope is that people will use it to help support the livelihood of trans people and to connect the community. We are stronger together.

If you would like to be included on this list, or if you know someone who should be included, please reach out by email. Requirements for inclusion are:
-Be transgender/non-binary
-Have a business, provide professional services, or make/sell art.
-Be local to the Metro Vancouver area

Please include information in your email like:
-Name of business as well as a description of what services you provide (also include whether you are the owner of the business, a contractor, an employee*, or whatever)
-Contact information like address/phone number/website/social media
-Other relevant information (business hours, for example)

The list currently includes: barbers, leather workers, body piercers (hello!), laser hair removal technicians, personal trainers, dance instructors, sex educators, illustrators, tattoo artists**, and ceramicists. Let’s expand it!

*People who make sales commissions or otherwise directly benefit from recommendations will be considered. The goal is to support other trans folks, not CEOs of companies that just-so-happen to hire trans people.

**I am going to be a little picky when it comes to the inclusion of tattoo artists on this list, for a few reasons. The first reason is that I rent a chair out of a tattoo studio and do not want to create conflict with my studio mates (some of whom fall under the trans umbrella). The second reason is that the industry is very poorly-regulated and is currently saturated with many so-called artists (“scratchers”) who operate without proper understanding of the art, sanitation, bloodborne pathogens, or cross-contamination. Community safety is important!
